DEATH GRIPS CAME TO THE VAN BUREN!

On May 11, 2023, Death Grips was at the Van Buren. And you know who was there, too? Me, bitch!

In all seriousness, it was a great show. Starting from when the doors opened, we were all just kind of sitting around for about an hour. Meanwhile, people were flashing their phones with pictures on them. The crowd would boo or cheer depending on what it was. There was also the people who played games and showed it to the crowd. I was one of them! Using my partner's phone, I managed to loop a Plague for 5 generators on DBD Mobile while barely being able to see the screen, which, to me, is really impressive.

As for the mosh pit, it was ok. It was mainly a wave mosh, with some large pockets of moshers, and some small ones as well. I took a visit to a lot of these moshes. I did, however, get trampled and have to go outside. That was awesome and painful. It took me a few days to recover, but I'm fine now.

The show itself was magnificent. MC Ride has a really good stage presence. I never really got to go up close, but I could tell he had a lot of room to move around, too. He very much took advantage of that. They played a good mixture of their popular stuff as well as their lesser-knowns.

My chief complaint with this show comes from the merch table. Seriously, why do you HAVE to close during the show? It's so burdensome to me to carry around a shirt and maybe some pins or stickers around during the show. I did that during the Black Veil Brides concert I went to in 2012, and it was horrible. I couldn't enjoy the mosh as much as I could have. Anyhow, that's why I don't have any merch to show for my experience. I suppose next time I'll just bring a clear backpack, as annoying as that is.

I'm going to the Goth Money Records show on the 9th of June. If you're also going, email me and we'll hang out. If not, I'll see you when I review that show.

Hasta luego!
